Payment Policies

When is payment due?

Full payment is expected no later than the date of the evaluation.  Dr. Mickenberg will arrange a pre-evaluation interview to obtain more information and can discuss payment details.

What methods of payment are possible?

Payment can be made by VISA, MasterCard, Discover, cash, or by personal check (made out to Karen Mickenberg; ask for mailing address).  Please note, credit cards from Flexible Spending Accounts such as FSA or HSA are not accepted.

Do you accept health insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider and therefore do not take payment from insurance companies.

Can I seek insurance reimbursement for services?

I can provide an itemized receipt after an evaluation for you to submit to your insurance company.  If interested in seeking insurance reimbursement, let me know and keep the following tips in mind.

Fees

Psychoeducational evaluation fees are determined by parents’ reasons for an evaluation. Most psychoeducational evaluations range from $1,800 (Basic Evaluation to identify strengths and weaknesses) to $2,900 (Comprehensive Evaluation to examine significant issues such as ADHD, disabilities, and twice-exceptionality). However, evaluations can be streamlined to the needs of families rather than one package and fee for all. Evaluations for high school and college students can require less assessment time and average about $2,500. Pricing can be discussed with Dr. Mickenberg during your pre-evaluation interview. Additional services, such as summary letters for schools or the College Board can be provided and may include an additional fee.

Consultation fees are included in all evaluations. Consultations without evaluations are conducted only when approved by Dr. Mickenberg at $230 per hour.
